Immigration Law
Mr. Harris was born and raised in the Central Valley. He says he owes many life lessons to his mother, an immigrant from Guatemala, who taught him about the many hardships faced by immigrants in the United States. On his father’s side, his grandparents are from Mexico and the Philippines. His grandparents, like his father, performed seasonal work in California and Arizona.
Before going to law school, Mr. Harris worked for various labor contractors and distribution warehouses where he learned the importance of hard work. It was through his mother’s experience as an immigrant and seeing the hardship of working class people that he knew he wanted to make a difference in the law.
During his time in law school, Mr. Harris performed work as a law clerk for the Federal Public Defender for the Eastern District of California and the Tulare Public Defender. He completed internships with Leadership Counsel for Justice and Accountability and Central California Legal Services. Mr. Harris also was the President of Law Students for Community Advancement where he helped organize the first ever criminal expungement clinic at his law school.
Since joining the Yarra, Rivas & Associates, Mr. Harris’ law practice involves all types of immigration relief, including family based petitions, DACA, U-Visa, VAWA, representation before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and before Immigration Courts in removal defense proceedings.
Mr. Harris is fluent in Spanish and is proud to serve the immigrant community.
